A Parliamentary Standing Committee has sought the explanations for the gradual progress of street building in areas hit by Left Wing Extremism, notably Telangana and Chhattisgarh, with just one,796 km of 9,338 km roads sanctioned for them throughout the nation accomplished.

“The Committee wish to know the explanations relating to abysmally gradual progress in completion of those roads specifically with respect to Telangana the place 147 km has been accomplished out of 705 km and Chhattisgarh the place 319 km has been accomplished out of 2479 km. The Committee is of the view that delay in building of roads in most delicate LWE areas like Telangana and Chhattisgarh can also be a cause for slowing down the inclusion and improvement processes of those areas and negatively affecting the potential of CAPFs/ State police in tackling the LWE menace,” the committee has mentioned.
